(Grand Cayman - CITN) -

Police continue to search for the driver knocked down two women and then fled the scene nearly two weeks ago (14 July).

The description of the vehicle is of a large white car and not as previously reported as a compact type, either silver or beige in colour with a distinctive rear spoiler.

According to an RCIPS spokesperson, “it will have damage to the front left side and windscreen. There was a male and female in the vehicle with the female possibly having a Caymanian accent.”

Both female pedestrians, Rose Marie Sanderson and Joan Walters, are still in hospital in stable condition however police confirm they are undergoing a series of operations and are expected to remain in hospital for some time.

Officers blocked roads in West Bay Friday night, stopping cars as they looked for clues as to who struck down the women on Mount Pleasant Road.

Police say the goal is to try and jog the memories of potential witnesses to the hit-and-run. It is the first in a series of road checks police will be carrying out.

Police are also appealing to any garages which may come across this vehicle.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Belanger at RCIPS Traffic Dept. 946-6254, West Bay Police Station or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
